Boris Shpeizman
Boris Shpeizman is an Israeli glass artist known for his intricate, hand-blown glass sculptures. Originally from St. Petersburg (then Leningrad), Shpeizman immigrated to Israel in 1988 after growing up in a family of Refuseniks who faced political persecution in the USSR for their Zionist activities. Although he initially trained as a dentist, Shpeizman eventually left the field to pursue his passion for glass art, earning a degree from Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem in 2005. He now operates Israel’s first public glassblowing studio in Tel Aviv and teaches at Bezalel.
Shpeizman’s work often explores themes of childhood dreams and fragile inner worlds, symbolized by his famous glass motorcycle titled "Rise of a Lollipop Man." This life-size motorcycle, entirely made from glass, represents the unattainable fantasies of youth. His work spans diverse glass forms, including functional pieces like goblets and shofars, which reflect both his Jewish heritage and his innovative approach to art. Shpeizman’s glass creations are part of collections in the U.S., UK, and Israel, and his pieces have been showcased in major exhibitions worldwide
