Leaad Shamir
Leead Shamir, born in 1969, is a multidisciplinary artist known for her vibrant and expressive artworks that explore a wide variety of techniques and materials. Graduating from Vital / Shenkar in 1999 with a B.E.D., she lives and creates in Kibbutz Einat. Her works have been showcased in solo exhibitions both in Israel and internationally, reflecting her deep-seated passion for expressive painting and primitive art forms, including themes of masks and fairy tales.
Shamir's art is rich with symbolism, drawing from ancient memories that represent various human mindsets and experiences. Common motifs in her work include flowers, birds, seeds, and themes of freedom, life, and death. She investigates complex relationships between beauty and ugliness, concealment and revelation, often using layers to gradually reveal her images.
Her creative process begins with abstract shapes, which evolve into recognizable forms, allowing her to express her emotions and personal narrative.
